Description
The Al Fahidi Fort, estimated to have been built in 1800 and being the oldest existing structure in Dubai, houses the city's main historical museum. It offers a journey through the metropolis' transformation from a fishing and pearler's village to a major center of commerce, finance, and tourism. The fort's interior is filled with numerous exhibits that illustrate pre-oil days, such as a walk-through mock souq, displays dedicated to Bedouin life in the desert, and a room that highlights the significance of the ocean. Archaeological artifacts found in nearby excavation sites are also showcased in the museum's final room.
